Video courses

Video courses can provide a solid foundation when studying for a certification. If i were to pick a single source as my study material it would be a video course. These three platforms below are products i have personal used and recommend to anyone looking to get started.

Professor messer

Free videos for ComTIA A+/Network+/Security+

CBTnuggets

It covers every IT certification you can probably think of, but is a $60 monthly subscription.

Udemy

Not free, but usually budget friendly. Prices vary per course.

books

A book is a great secondary source to pair with a video course. Whether you plan to study it cover to cover or use it as a reference, using a book has multiple benefits. The linked resources below are companies/Authors that i have either used or have had recommended.

Exam cram

Apart from being one of the most budget friendly IT books I’ve come across, exam cram feels like a well written notebook. Straight to the point and perfect for referencing topics.

darril gibson

I used one of Darril’s books for the security + and it was the most enjoyable IT textbook I have read so far. He uses great analogies to explain topics and if he wrote for more certifications, I would use his content more often.

mike meyers

If you have looked into study material for an entry-level IT certification before you have probably seen Mike’s name somewhere. I have not personally used his products myself, but he’s gotta be good if i see/hear his name everywhere right?

Practice Tests

boson

If Boson fits in your budget, get it. It will be very similar to the real exam and you’ll probably hear that Boson is harder than the real deal. If you can pass Boson you’re ready. Even if you get close to passing Boson  you’re ready.

other practice jazz

Other than Boson, you can use the included practice tests from your book or video coarse. That’s what i normally do. You could also  google around for some practice tests.
